15 Movie Questions...

While we're on the topic of movies....

Today we (I) ripped off a man named Max Urai of the site Anomalous Materials. He states that he spotted this meme over at Cinematic Paradox.

Sunday Stealing: The Fifteen Movie Questions Meme

1. Movie you love with a passion.
Titanic. Still to this day, it makes me cry!

2. Movie you vow to never watch.
Any more Saw movies. I saw (no pun intended) the first one and hated it and I won't watch any more of them.  Sadly I watched Hostel shortly after. I love horror movies, but what a waste of my time.

3. Movie that literally left you speechless.
Primal Fear. I couldn't believe the ending. It blew my mind!

4. Movie you always recommend.
When you're in the mood for a goofy movie, watch ZombieLand. In fact, if you can be drunk or high while watching it, I recommend it even more! I love everything Jessie Eisenberg says!

5. Actor/actress you always watch, no matter how crappy the movie.
Nicholas Cage.  After I watched City of Angels I had to watch every movie he was in, no matter how bad it was.

6. Actor/actress you don’t get the appeal for.
Reese Witherspoon. I just don't get it. She's not that great and she has the biggest chin I have ever seen!!!

7. Actor/actress, living or dead, you’d love to meet.
Brad and Angelina. I just wanna see how normal they really are.  They seem like the power couple and I will actually be sad if they every break up.

8. Sexiest actor/actress you’ve seen. (Picture required!)
Can I pick just one? I have this thing for Jeffrey Dean Morgan. I can't explain it. Especially in P.S. I Love You. I'm a sucker for an accent, what can I say!!  Jeffrey also makes me think of Javier Bardem...super cute as well!

9. Dream cast.
Ed Norton, Brad Pitt (oh ya, that's Fight Club) and maybe Angelina who I think is uber-hot.....what movie is that???

10. Favorite actor pairing.
Is this getting tiring, but I loved Brad Pitt and Ed Norton. I thought they were so hilarious together. I also loved Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis in 12 Monkeys. They were really awesome together.  I actually find Brad Pitt really funny period!

11. Favorite movie setting.
I loved Angels and Demons for the setting. And the DiVinci Dode. I loved the books for the same reason; so fascinating. When I'm reading a Dan Brown book I always have the internet with me so I can look up the really cool places he's talking about.

12. Favorite decade for movies.
Now!! I love all the movies in the 2000's. I'm not a fan of 80's flicks mostly because I lived thru them.

13. Chick flick or action movie?
I prefer to watch action because it's more entertaining. But a good chick flick always makes me have a good cry!!

14. Hero, villain or anti-hero?
I love the villains! Didn't you just love Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs or Kevin Spacey in Seven....ooooh, Kevin Spacey was sooooo spectacular!!!!

15. Black and white or color?
Colour, for sure!!! Spelt c-o-l-o-U-r!!! LOL!!

What Do You Think??

I'm the type of person who watches movies for the sake of movies. I don't care how "great" the actor truly was or how in depth the characters are. Is it a good movie? Was I bored? Was the actor hot or not? I'm the type of person who thought Avatar was spectacular and didn't care that it was Pocahontas on steroids! It was awesome!!! And Sammy is adorable, especially in blue!

Hubby and I got to talking tonight about Marvel and their choice of actors to portray the characters in their comics. With all the Marvel movies that have come out over the past few years, there is much material to discuss.  I thought I'd come on in here and voice an opinion that may not be very popular. Today's topic is Alter Egos. Or better yet, Ed Norton vs Brandon Routh.

Let's begin by saying that Ed Norton is one of my favourite actors.  I think he is not only adorable but is extremely talented.  When I watched it Primal Fear, I was blown away at how awesome he was. Fight Club is still my all-time favourite movie!  When I watch Ed in the Hulk I just wanna snuggle him!  Ed does a fantastic job not only playing the Hulk but as playing the Hulk's alter ego, Bruce Banner.  I found him believable and adorable.

But I'm sorry. No one holds a flame to Brandon Routh as Clark Kent. I'm not saying that Brandon played a good Superman. But what I am definitely saying is that Brandon did the absolute greatest job of playing Clark Kent and the only actor who did it better was the absolute greatest, Christopher Reeve.  What I am saying is that although Ed Norton played a great Bruce Banner, he pales in comparison to Brandon Routh as Clark Kent.  Think hard about it before you answer. I'm not comparing the Hulk, a mostly computer generated character to the very hot Superman. I'm simply comparing their alter egos only.

You know I'm right. Brandon Routh is HOT!!!

So, what do you think? If you had to compare Ed Norton as Bruce Banner vs Brandon Routh (who will NOT be in the next Superman movie) as Clark Kent, who would you choose? Go watch the movies again and let me know!!!!

I want ONE!

You all know how much I love my garden. It's one of those things that really makes me happy.  I was visiting my husbands uncle a few weeks ago and I saw the most beautiful flower. It was called a Passionflower.  I didn't get a picture of it, but this is what I found on the weeb.  Check this sucker out....

Short and and not-so-sweet....

My back to work adventure hit a small snag today.....damn PANIC ATTACKS!!!

Went to see the shrink today. He says, "Nancy, I think you went back to work to early".  It's because I told him that I've been having issues with work these last few days. It's like there's this scratchy, itchy critter inside my brain and it is just FREAKING out about being at work.  And it gets so bad that I make myself sick.

Ugh, being a failure is so upsetting!!

I know, I know!! I'm not a failure. I have just failed at this one particular far.  The doc says take a week off and see if it's the meds that have gone all wrong or if it's that I shouldn't be working yet. Bleck!!!!

I freakin hate this disease! My biggest dream for this world is the cure for anxiety and depression!

Oh well. Tomorrow is a brand new day!! Did I mention I am ordering an exercise machine?? Check it out!
Maybe this is the solution!!!

Day 30 — Hopes, dreams and plans for the future

I can't believe we're finally done!! Can you believe we've finally finished our 30 Day challenge?? My one last chance to talk about myself.  What will I do without this challenge....oh, who's kidding who. We all know I'll be back again to talk about me whenever the fancy tickles me!

Hope and dreams, huh? well, my hope and dreams for my kidlettes is easy. I hope only to teach them right from wrong and that they don't do anything that requires the police! LOL.  I know having two teenage boys is going to interesting and that they're gonna get into trouble all on their own. I just hope that they're smart about it and that they don't get anyone pregnant until they're married!!!

Plans for my future?? One plan I have is that Kirk and I return to the Dominican Republic and go to the hotel we went to when we were engaged. It was the most fun we ever had on a trip and I want to relive that experience with him before our 10 year anniversary.  I love travelling with Kirk. He always makes me do the scary things that I learn to love, like snorkeling!!

One last plan for the future for myself is to lose some weight. Get ready for some posts about skinny me because I'm about to take my OCD to a whole new level! LOL.  We ordered a machine (which I've never had before!!) called the Total Flex and I'm gonna start kicking some ass!!!

Well my pretties. That's all I got today. This last week hasn't been so great for me. My return to work has turned out to be more difficult than I had originally thought it would so I'm a bit too depressed to have anything awesome to talk about.  So let's reconvene another time, shall we! Smooches!

Day 29 — A person you love

Do you mean love, love, like I love, love my kids

or love, love like I love Jeffrey Dean Morgan

or love, love like I love my Momma???

Nasty Lil' Things

I love my Garden. Every year I see it get bigger and bigger and it fills me with a certain kind of pride to know that I've done what I can to help it grow. This year my garden is lovelier than ever. There is only one small problem. This little f*cker is eating my lilies!
My MIL and I have been diligently killing every little red beetle that we see, but they are ferocious breeders!  Yesterday we must've killed 10 of them, then today another dozen. We went over to my neighbours house and killed all the red beetles in his lilies as well. If we don't kill them, they just spread!  Can you see the damage one of these things can do...

So not only are we battling the bunnies eating all the blooms, earwigs ruining my comfort zone in the back yard, but now I have to worry about red beetles eating all my lillies bare!! Grrrrrr. It's making me very angry!!

On a happier note, check out my Rose of Sharon! Isn't she beautiful!!

I Couldn't Go Today :(

Six weeks ago I began my gradual return to work. Today was supposed to be my first week of 5 full days of work. But I just couldn't do it. Today was a complete FAIL on my part.

I went down to the laundry room to get my uniform out of the dryer.  As I was pulling out stuff I began to panic a little about putting on my uniform and going to work. It was such a stupid thing, but it ended with me in a ball on the floor, phone in my hand, calling my husband and freaking out.

Yup, welcome to the fun world of panic and anxiety! What a pathetic mess I am.  After speaking with hubby, I called my GM and told him I couldn't make it in today. My GM is now well aware of my condition and has been doing what he can to make my transition back to work as easy as possible.  He said I could take today off and then work on Saturday if I wanted. Yup, that's a great idea!

You know what my problem is?? Let me tell you. When you have depression there are some very important things that you need to do to make sure things don't get outta hand. You have to sleep right, eat right and take care of yourself.  Let's examine how I have been failing miserably lately at taking good care of myself. I have been sleeping more and more. Even after a full nights sleep I am still napping during the day. I'm so lethargic that I don't want to do anything but sleep. So not a good idea!! I have been eating alright, but then yesterday I decided it was eat whatever I wanted day. That's never good. I'm not supposed to drink alcohol unless it's a social get together, but these last few nights I've been having one or two glasses of Smirnoff. It's been so hot and I've wanted to have a drink while sitting on the porch. But that is horrible for my sleep and it's horrible for my mood the next day. And to top off all the crap, I haven't been doing anything to make myself happy. I've been mopeing around the house instead of getting out and doing things for myself. I haven't gone shopping, gone to the book store, nothing. I havne't taken the boys to the park or done anything fun with them.

So what have we learned?? That I need to take better care of myself, damn it!!! I need to get some proper sleep at night and no napping!  I need to make sure I eat well and no more drinks at night!!! I need to get out of the house and do something fun this week!! And I NEED to go to work tomorrow unlike today!

Day 28 — A place you love

Good Evening!! How is everyone feeling this fine night?  I was a pathetic mess today. I slept in til 8, had a nap at 10, then fell asleep reading my book at 2.  It's gonna be a long night of no sleeping, me thinks. And it's entirely my own fault! Of course, once I take my Imovane I'll be out like a light, but it won't last :( It never does! Sniff, sniff.

Ok, I'm done whining for now.  We're almost done our 30 day challenge. What will we do once we're finished? Oh no worries there. I'll never get tired of talking as long you never get tired of listening.  We'll always find something to talk about!! Today we're gonna talk about a place that I love.  It's hard to pick just one place in the world that I love. I mean, I love taking my baths in my stunning, luxurious roman tub but that's kinda boring.  If I had to pick one place out of all the places I've been, I will have to choose Mexico as my favourite country and XelHa as my favourite park.

XelHa is an ecological park. You can go snorkeling, swim with stingrays, check out the manatees, go for long walks and check out the beautiful views of the ocean.  It was well worth the money!  Check out some of these pictures!

A cenote!
Swimming with the stingrays!

A face that needs a smooch!

This place was just breathtaking.  I love snorkeling even though I hate the ocean. I don't have a picture of  me swimming with the stingray but that was a pretty awesome experience. They are so soft underneath and so tough on top. Who knew!!

Well, that's it for today. Hope to see you again real soon!

Day 27 — What’s in your bag?

FIRST, this is what I WISH my purse looked like..................................>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Just thought I'd get that outta the way!!

I'm a Mom, so my purse has the essentials in it. I have my wallet that has the kids health cards and immunization cards.  I usually have wipes in it, just in case. I have the cutest little manicure kit in my purse because you never know when you'll need to get rid of a hangnail!  Just don't use those dang nail clippers in front of me. Hell, don't use my nail clippers at all! Yuck!  I always have lip gloss in my purse because I always need pink lips!  I have a little makeup kit in my purse on those rare days when I have left the house without a little something!  I always, always, always have deodorant in my purse. (I also have one in my locker at work.) Because of the medication I'm on, I sweat toooooooo much. I always have to have antiperspirants on me!  I also always have moisturizer in my purse. I have sensitive skin that gets dry easily. You never know when you'll need moisturizer!! I like to have floss in my purse because you never know when you'll get something stuck in your teeth!  I also keep a select few feminine products in there so I am never, ever "surprised". My work and house keys are always in my purse and I also have a extra bag in my purse that way I don't have to pay for one at all those crazy stores that make you pay for one!

I think that's it.....well, that was boring! Did I mention that this is what I WISH my purse looked like??

Oh ya, and I ALWAYs have a BOOK in my purse. Right now I am reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. I'm almost done and it was pretty good.  I always have a book in there because you never know when you will be stuck somewhere with nothing to do.  You know, I tried using an eReader but it just wasn't the same. I really do prefer to have the actual book in my fingers!

Day 26 — Who do you admire and inspire

Boys and Girls, I have arrived!! LOL. Today was a long, boring day at work so it is now time to do something that I enjoy! Talking to you fine people!  We're all the way up to day 26 in our 30 day challenge. This challenge has definitely taken my longer than I thought it would. It was fun to do though!  Today is the day we talk about people and characteristics I admire in others.
My first will definitely have to be my mother. As a single mother of three children, I think my Mom did a pretty fantastic job.  Her kids stayed outta jail, we didn't drive drunk, we weren't bullies and we became pretty normal adults.  My brothers Tim is a college graduate and my brother John is a genius at U of T. I'm pretty proud of both of them and my Mom had a lot to do with how they turned out. I think I turned out ok, too.
Second, I'd have to say my brother's fiance, Caitie, is a pretty remarkable woman and I admire her drive and determination.  In the last few months she has been able to turn her life around and lose all the weight she wanted to. She even completed a stair climbing marathon where she had to climb all the stairs in the CN Tower. That was damn impressive!!!
Third, my Dad. Although my Dad passed away a year ago, I have discovered what an awesome friend he was.  His funeral showed me how much my father was loved by everyone who met him and it made me love him even more! My father has a pretty rough beginning but he managed to become a pretty awesome man in the end so I am definitely proud to call my Daddy!
Ok, those were easy because they are family.  How about someone that isn't family.
How about Lance Armstrong?  A man who survived testicular cancer and then went on to win the Tour de France 7 times. That's pretty amazing stuff. I hope that I am a strong enough human being to survive such a devastating disease and go on to accomplish something great. Or Regina Brett, who overcame breast cancer and went on to be an award winning author. Her book, "God Never Blinks" is a great read that will really make you feel better about yourself when you need a pick me up!

Qualities that I admire most in a person? I love it when people can be true to themselves when it is toughest. It's easy to be outgoing and positive when times are easy. How about being a positive role model when things are hard? Now that's talent!  I admire people who come thru something hard like cancer stronger than ever! I love feel good stories about people surviving adversity. It makes me well up with pride!

Well, that's all I got for today! Thanks for stopping by and letting me entertain you for a bit!

Day 25 — A favourite photo

My pregnancy with Gavin was very rough. My due date was January 27th, but I had a cesarean scheduled for January 14th.  From almost half way thru the pregnancy, I was in excrutiating pain. I ended up going on disability because I could no longer work.  On December 22nd, I ended up in emerg. The pain was unbearable.  Every time I stood to go to the washroom, there was as searing pain and a stabbing sensation. I told the doctors I thought it was a bladder infection. They prescribed antibiotics and sent me home. The next day, the pain was even worse so I returned to the hospital. They did an ultrasound and discovered that my uterus was thinning and was in danger or tearing open. Gavin and my life was in danger. So although five weeks early, I had an unexpected csection on December 23rd.

Gavin was not ready to be born so early. He would spend almost a month in the hospital.  CHEO ran every test imaginable on him to find out why his heart and breathing rates were so irregular. They not only did not figure it out, but he continued to stay the same without improvement. There were days when I wasn't sure what was wrong or if I would ever bring him home.

This picture is Gavin, 27 days old.  After spending almost a month in the NICU, this is the first picture of Gavin in a regular room in the hospital. This is a picture of Gavin the day that I got to bring him home. He looks so relaxed and comfortable in this picture. He slept like an angel while he was in the hospital that day. He was finally ready to go home and this Momma couldn't have been happier. This is one of my absolute favourite shots and moments of Gavin's life. It was January 18th, 2008.

Day 24 — About your childhood

I was born in 1975 in London, Ontario. My brother, John, was born 5 days shy of my first birthday. Most pictures of me as a child have my brother in them because we were so close in age.  Check us out!

This is us
with my Dad

I love this pic of us!

It occurs to me as I'm looking thru all my pics, that I don't have any pics with my Mom. Strange cuz I lived with my Mom (and not my Dad) and she was the centre of my universe as a child and teenager!!

My parents were divorced when I was five. My Dad got remarried. This is John and I at my Dads wedding. Let's not discuss my StepMother just yet.

When Dad remarried he had another daughter, named Jenny. This is us all together!
I was super excited when Jenny was born because I had a sister!!! Sadly, we didn't have the sister relationship I always dreamed about. Someday, maybe!!

Me, at the tender age of 6!

My childhood was pretty tame compared to some. I moved around a lot as my Mom never could really settle in one place. When I was 17, I refused to move with my MOm and stayed behind in Ottawa while she went to Eganville, then the GTA.  I was a crazy teenager in love with a stupid boy at the time.  I stayed in Ottawa, went to University and now live there with my husband. My Mom still lives in Burlington. We're having a competition right now to see who will give in and move closer to the other. I have a sneaking suspicion I'm going to lose this fight LOL!

On a sadder note today, I just found out that my Grandpa passed away this past weekend. I'm a little sad. The one year anniversary of my Dad's passing is on Thursday so I was already feeling a little tender. This pics kinda make me gloomy, so I think that'll be all for today, my kidlettes! We shall talk again soon though.

Day 22 Your Current Relationship

Day 22 is my Current Relationship.....this one is EASY!!!

I met my husband 14 years ago at work. He was just a kid when we met, maybe 17 ( I was 21). I thought he was a cute kid but just a teenager and didn't think much more of it.  Years went by, he got older. I thought he sounded like such a good boyfriend. He had a girlfriend and I got to hear about all the lovely things he was doing for her. He sounded great, but he was taken.  When he was finally single, I thought I'd take my chance. He was still 4 years younger, but he had matured a bit (and I say just A BIT).  Well, here we are, now almost 8 years later.

Kirk and I were married on June 4th, 2005.  We just celebrated our 6th year wedding anniversary!! Congrats to us!! What can I say, we rock!!!

Check us out!

Every year is about my garden!  I love my flowers and I love taking pictures of them! I hope you like looking a beautiful flowers, cuz you're getting stuck with it! HA!!!
The first two are pics from the tulip Festival that I just loved!

This is a pic of my table in my back yard.

I don't know what type of rose this is, I just call it WILD cuz it grows like crazy!
Blooms from my Peony

We call this the "penis" plant. It's a Hen&Chick. I didn't know they flower, but here ya go! FLOWERS!

My hubby's favourite is called the Malva, I think??

Another Tulip Festival flower...just beautiful!
