Day 5 of the 30 Day Challenge

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen!  I hope you all had a fantastic week! It was beautiful here so I tried to enjoy it as much as I could.  Today was stunning. Instead of being a good girl and getting some sunshine, I accidentally took a two hour nap. It was blissful!!!

Welcome back to the 30 Day challenge! have you started your own challenge?? I hope so!  Cuz it's definitely been interesting so far.  So, let's check out what's going on in our 30 Day Challenge, shall we?

Day 01 — A recent picture and 15 facts about you

Day 02 — Favourite movies
Day 03 — Favourite TV shows
Day 04 — Favourite books
Day 05 — Favourite quotes

This is a tough one. I used to have this book about quotes and I would underline or hilight all my favourite quotes. But do you think I could find that darn book today? Heck no!  As part of my Happiness Project (check out previous posts), I have made a "Happiness Book" where I put pictures, quotes and stuff that makes me smile. That way whenever I want, I have a place where I can go and sit and try and be a little happier!  So I checked it out and here are a few of the things that I found inside.

"There are times in the lives of most of us, when we would have given all the world to be as we were but yesterday, though that yesterday had passed over us unappreciated and unenjoyed"  Willam Edward Hartpole Lecky  I love this quote because we often forget to enjoy life everyday because we're so busy with life!  This reminds me that I will regret it if I don't pay closer attention.

I love quotes that remind me to enjoy life, to be happy with the little things, that sort of thing.  I often forget that the precious things are around us every day.

Life is tough sometimes.  My therapist once said to me, "You might as well get a little enjoyment out of every day because this is as good as it gets."  There are days when I find this statement more depressing than encouraging, but I understand what she meant by it. Just like the movie...have you ever seen "As Good As it Gets" with Jack Nicholson?  It's so good!!!

There are a million good quotes in the Bible, we all know that. But I saw this today on the 'weeb' and just loved it. Just a little reminder that life can never be what you want it to be without Gods love in your heart! I love that!

I also love this story. I have it framed up somewhere around here somewhere. Some days are really tough and this story reminds me that I am never alone.  Very comforting.

I have read quite a lot about depression, obviously.  Recently I have read a few books with some awesome quotes inside. When I find a quote I like, I photocopy the page and put it in my happiness book. Here are a few:

"This is most of what I took away with me from Mobias, and from this project as a whole.  The gist of it anyway. Action. I am not bound by my diagnosis. I can help myself, and I will.    I, always the patient, am not condemned if only I can participate."   Voluntary Madness by Norah Vincent

"I didn't have to like meetings, I just had to go to them. Well this was a revelation to me! I thought I had to like everything I did....I didn't have to actually be comfortable all the time." Wishful Drinking by Carrie Fisher

"I just wanted to turn the sound down and smooth all of my sharp corners.  Block out the dreadfully noisy din of not being good enough - which on occasion I was actually able to do." Wishful Drinking by Carrie Fisher

"There are no people anywhere who don't have some mental illness. It all depends on where you set the bar and how hard you look. What is a myth is that we are mostly mentally well most of the time......If recovery from mental illness depended on the goodness, mercy, and rational behavior of others, we'd all be screwed."

"It crossed my mind that if I was able to tell the story well enough to get it published and it sold well, I might make some money and it might be the end of shame and blame and stigmatization. The medical model would reign supreme. Unequivocal diagnostic tests would be available shortly. Medications without side effects would come along a little later, and mental illness would become a thing of the past.
It was not impossible that an accurate understanding of mental illness would lead to world peace and universal prosperity. Without writers fooling themselves about what their books might accomplish there would be no books at all." Just Like Someone Without Mental Illness Only More So by Mark Vonnegut

well, I think that's all I got for today, folks.  I know you deserve a day 6, but that might have to wait until tomorrow.  We'll see how I feel. And of course, I wanna put up some pictures to show you how awesome my anniversary was!
